FAQs

Common questions

Short answers to what students and parents ask most.

Is GradeCalculators.org really free?
Yes. Every calculator on the site is free to use, with no sign-up, no paywalls, and no usage limits. We do not offer a premium tier; the tools you see are the complete product.
Do you store the grades I enter?
No. All calculations run entirely in your browser. Grades, course names, and credit hours are never sent to a server. You can verify this by running any calculator with the browser network tab open; you’ll see no requests triggered by typing.
Which GPA scale do your calculators use?
By default, the standard US 4.0 scale with plus/minus letters (A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, and so on). Several calculators let you switch to a 4.3 scale, a 5.0 weighted scale for AP/Honors, or custom scales for specific universities.
Are the formulas accurate?
Yes. Each calculator ships with the formula it uses, worked examples, and a last-verified date. We cross-check against College Board conversion tables, NCES grading standards, and individual university registrar pages. Our editorial standards page documents the full sourcing and review process.
What if I find an error?
Please tell us. We review every discrepancy against primary sources and correct within 48 hours when a report holds up. The Contact page has the fastest way to reach the editorial team.
Can teachers use these calculators?
Absolutely. The Easy Grader, Grade Curve, and weighted-category calculators are built with teacher workflows in mind. No grading data is stored on our servers, so classroom use is FERPA-compatible as long as students aren’t prompted for personally-identifying information.
